[ hawke isn't going to be murdered by a sloth, ada! but it is a bit frustrating to have ada so insistent about this, she's not entirely sure what to do now. ]
Well... if you're not going out this way, and I'm not going to fight them, what do you we propose we do? To avoid bloodshed.
[ she... she doesn't have an actual plan, but that's not what matters! What matters is teamwork and friendship. Come on. There's a nervous pause while she thinks. ]
-- W-well, we keep looking...! There must be a real exit. Maybe there's another door in this room...!
[ yes teamwork and friendship totally override practically. hawke sighs and rubs at her face before nodding. ]
But I do reserve the right to push you through the window at anytime. Let's see if we can find a door.
[ BACK THEY GO into the boxes and there's some sounds from outside so it looks like they're running out of time. gosh, ada!! what ever will we do with all this friendship and teamwork? ]
[ ada "perpetually stuck in the wrong genre" vessalius ]
E-eh? Don't push me without warning...! [ she protests meekly, but her voice quickly dies out when she hears those noises from outside. Oh, no. Now what do they do?!
Quickly, in a hushed whisper: ] -- Are you sure you can't fit through, too? I can pull from the other side...!
[ if they weren't in near-pitch-blackness, she'd see Ada's shoulders sag in relief. She'll just have to settle with the re-energized "mm!" as Ada turns towards the small window.
Honestly, she's not sure she's going to fit through it either. She's not that small, and her figure isn't exactly slender. But it's either this, or questionable punishment by loan sloths. ]
Okay...! [ she stretches up to try and push it open - thankfully, it does, but... ] Can you... Can you give me a boost?
[ hawke is there already and holds her hands together to boost ada up. ada's small and curvy to hawke's tall and slender so one way or another, one of them will get out this damn window. she'll move her hands to support ada as she holds her up, hoping she can get through. ]
[ yeah, it's a bit of a tight squeeze, but, again - loan sloths. She doesn't want to spend a moment longer being kidnapped in a weird basement by fuzzy animals. So, despite a bit of squishing that will probably leave bruises in odd places later, Ada manages to get through the window. It's dark outside, too, so she can't see well; she has no idea where they might be. But it has to be better than being stuck. ]
I -- I'm through, miss! Here, grab my hands!
[ sticking said hands through the window. Probably. It's pretty dark. ]
[ this is such a poor idea, hawke thinks and hawke is the queen of poor ideas. still, she pulls herself through the window to try and squeeze though, grabbing at ada's hands once her head is out and just. squeeeeeeze.
except after she gets her shoulders and arms through there's a shout from inside and she freezes. she tries to look back but she can't make out what's there beyond her own body and then there's a clawed hand around her ankle. ]
Oh, Maker! Pull harder, pull harder!
[ oh my god they're going to steal her shoe, she's so pissed. ]
no subject
hawke just blinks a few times at the empathetic refusal and drags a hand over her face. ]
It's alright, really. I'm used to this sort of thing and can take care of myself. This might be the safest exit I can get you.

... Thank you for caring, but... I can't leave you behind after helping me. I want to help you, too.
[ people are always doing this to her!! and then all her family members die afterwards. NOT THIS TIME. ]

[ you better have an answer, little lady ]

but hawke does look back at the window, rubbing at her chin as she thinks. ]
I suppose we can try? If I can get my shoulders through, the rest might come easily.
[ she is rather bony, after all. ]
Come on, you first.
